Sirika debunked reports that he was invited by EFCC

The immediate past Aviation Minister, Hadi Abubakar Sirika, has debunked reports that he was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC Sirika denied knowledge of any invitation saying, “ Well, maybe they invited me in their imagination, but what I do know is that I had gone to see the former chairman (Bawa) last week, and I have not received any invitation. If they want to invite me, I’m here.” When asked whether he went to see Bawa based on his invitation or personally, he said, “I did not get any invitation from the EFCC, Oga, that’s what I said to you. I have not been invited. If I’m invited, it is not any news or no news; I can go whenever I’m invited. “If they invite me today, I will appear. I was a public officer and I am accountable for my actions. Public officers are accountable for their actions. If I’m invited by the EFCC, I will go. I’ve not seen any invitation. I am in my house, and I’m based in Abuja, not Kaduna, and they are also here in Abuja.”

FEC approves renaming of aviation ministry, concessioning of two int’l airports

 FEC approves renaming of aviation ministry, concessioning of two int’l airports. Speaking to journalists at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting, yesterday, Hadi Sirika, minister of aviation, said the Abuja airport will be concessioned for 20 years while the international airport in Kano will be concessioned for 30 years. Sirika also said the council approved the ministry’s change of name. According to the minister, the name of the ‘federal ministry of aviation’ changed to the ‘ministry of aviation and aerospace of Nigeria’. “The council also approved the draft national civil aviation policy which is geared towards the strengthening of the civil aviation,” Sirika added.  Last week, FEC approved N449.9 million for the engagement of consultants for the development of a master plan for 17 airports in Nigeria.

Nigeria Air will begin operation before May 29 -Minister of Aviation

President Muhammed Buhari’s tenure ends on May 29. Answering questions from reporters after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday, April 26, the Minister revealed that everything needed to begin operation is in place. We have everything in place – the aircraft, offices, operational centers, staffing and everything needed is in place. President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday in Addis Ababa met with Girma Wake, Ethiopian Airlines Board Chairman, during which they exchanged views on the operationalization of Nigeria Air. FEC approves N10bn for aviation projects in Jigawa, Enugu

The federal executive council (FEC) has approved over N10 billion for projects in the aviation sector. FEC gave the approval on Wednesday at a meeting presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja. Hadi Sirika, minister of aviation, said the council approved N7.4 billion for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Hadejia airstrip in Jigawa state for a period of 18 months. Sirika said the contract was awarded to MESSRS China Civil Engineering Construction Company. He said FEC also approved N1.9 billion for the construction of control tower and technical building in Enugu. The minister said another N625 million contract was approved for the procurement of utility vehicles. In 2021, the federal government said it would intensify efforts to revive airstrips across the country in a bid to combat insecurity and boost commercial activities.

President Muhammadu Buhari to Commission Abuja Airport Cargo Terminal Soon. -Sen Hadi Sirika

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika yesterday disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari would in no distance time commission the completed cargo terminal project at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. Sirika, who made the disclosure while responding to questions raised by the House Committee on Aviation when he appeared before it for the defence of 2023 budget proposal, also disclosed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had concluded investigation into the second Abuja airport cargo terminal project abandoned by contractors after receiving 75 per cent advance payment. He stated that the Nigerian national air carrier would take-off before the end of the year with boing 737 for domestic operations while international operations would be introduced later.  Nigeria’s national carrier to be launched soon. The Honourable Minister of Aviation Sen. Hadi Abubakar Sirika said this when he appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation for 2023 budget defence in Abuja on Tuesday. The minister said President Muhammadu Buhari was also expected to commission one of the two cargoes at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, in a few days. Minister assures NASS Abuja Airport 2nd Runway delivery in 6 months

The  Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika has assured the National Assembly joint committees on aviation of the completion of the N92 billion second Abuja International Airport Runway before the exit of the current regime.  The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Abubakar Sirika, on Wednesday, assured that the nation’s national carrier, ‘Nigeria Air’ will commence operations in early December, 2022.
