Nigeria Air'll Fly Before May 29, Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika Assures.

Briefing State House correspondents at the end of the Extraordinary Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday, Senator Hadi Sirika affirmed that the national carrier, Nigeria Air will begin operations before the end of the present administration.

He said, “Yes, we are on course, we’re on course, and by the grace of God before President Buhari leaves office, it will fly.”

“So today in council, something very significant has happened in the world of civil aviation. Part of our roadmap, the aviation leasing company has been established and approved by council.

“A second memo was also a contract for procurement, an installation of taxi waylights in the system and photometric pattern in Port Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja and some other equipment all over the country.

“And this contract is in the total sum for the photometric and taxi waylights system N3.5 billion with an eight-month period and the contractor Mssrss KSR3 Global Ledger Limited,” said the minister

Senator Sirika Hadi was born on 2nd March, 1964 in Dutsi, Kastina state. Sen. Hadi Sirika is a former pilot and a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. National Carrier, Airport Concession, New Terminals Beckon

Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika said the Federal Government would deliver a new national carrier- Nigeria Air – in 2021. Sirika said adequate preparations had been made and that N78.96 billion had been budgeted in the 2021 Appropriation Bill to implement the plan for a new national carrier, among other projects. The establishment of the national carrier, he said, would be carried out in partnership with the private sector. He said: “In 2021, the sum of N78.960 billion is being proposed for capital expenditure at the headquarters in the aviation ministry and the emphasis will focus on the implementation of the Aviation Roadmap as directed by Mr. President. “The roadmap would be implemented through Public Private Partnership (PPP), topmost of which will be the establishment of a national carrier”. BUHARI APPROVES REORGANIZATIONS, NEW APPOINTMENTS IN AVIATION AGENCIES In line with the administration’s commitment to the implementation of the Aviation Development Roadmap, President Mohammadu Buhari has approved some reorganizations within the Agencies under Federal Ministry of Aviation. Consequently, he has approved the appointment of Professor Bako Mansur Matazu as the new Director-General of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET). He replaces Professor Sani Abubakar Mashi.
