SEN. HADI SIRIKA BIOGRAPHY; EDUCATION, CAREER AND PERSONAL LIFE


Senator Sirika Hadi was born on 2nd March, 1964 in Dutsi, Kastina state. Sen. Hadi Sirika is a former pilot and a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He represents Katsina North Senatorial District under the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). Sirika was previously Vice-Chairman of the Millennium Development Goals Standing Committee of the Nigerian Senate. He became a senator in 2011. Before then, he served as a member of the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007 on the platform of the ANPP. He was General Manager of Katsina State Transport Authority from 1999 and 2000. He was Minister for State Aviation from 2015 and 2019 and is currently the Minister for Aviation.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Sirika Hadi graduated from the Petroleum Helicopters Institute, USA, Flight Safety International, United State of America and Delta Aeronautics, USA.

CAREER

He was General Manager Katsina State Transport Authority from 1999 to 2000
Hadi was elected into the Federal House of Representative in 2003 and he left office in 2007.
In 2011, Sirika Hadi was elected to represent Kastina North in the Nigerian Senate under the platform of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
While in the Senate, Hadi was the portal vice chairman Millennium Development Goal (MDG) and a member of the Senate Committee on Aviation. He also served in various committees in the Nigerian senate.
After a merger which brought about the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hadi became a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
After the emergence of President Buhari as the winner of the 2015 presidential elections, Hadi was appointed minister for state on Aviation, a position he held till 2019.
He was reappointed by President Buhari after he won his second term bid as the minister of Aviation.

 Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika said the Federal Government would deliver a new national carrier- Nigeria Air – in 2021. Sirika said adequate preparations had been made and that N78.96 billion had been budgeted in the 2021 Appropriation Bill to implement the plan for a new national carrier, among other projects.  BUHARI APPROVES REORGANIZATIONS, NEW APPOINTMENTS IN AVIATION AGENCIES  In line with the administration’s commitment to the implementation of the Aviation Development Roadmap, President Mohammadu Buhari has approved some reorganizations within the Agencies under Federal Ministry of Aviation. Consequently, he has approved the appointment of Professor Bako Mansur Matazu as the new Director-General of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET). He replaces Professor Sani Abubakar Mashi. Professor Matazu holds a PhD in Geography (Applied Meteorology), with membership of the Nigerian Environmental Society, African Forestry Forum, Nigerian Meteorological Society, the Climate Change Network, Nigeria and the renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Nigeria (REEN). He was, until his appointment, the General Manager, Meteorological Research in the Agency.
