Nigerian Airway to Start Operation in December 2022 -Hadi Abubakar Sirika

 The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Abubakar Sirika, on Wednesday, assured that the nation’s national carrier, ‘Nigeria Air’ will commence operations in early December, 2022.

He spoke during a meeting convened by the Senate Committee on Aviation, the industry regulators and the Airlines Operators of Nigeria (AON) in Abuja

The Minister said the essence of having a national carrier was to improve services and make the industry affordable to all and sundry.

The government has done extremely well for the local airlines and we have said any of them cannot be a national carrier.

National Carrier, Airport Concession, New Terminals Beckon

 Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika said the Federal Government would deliver a new national carrier- Nigeria Air – in 2021. Sirika said adequate preparations had been made and that N78.96 billion had been budgeted in the 2021 Appropriation Bill to implement the plan for a new national carrier, among other projects. The establishment of the national carrier, he said, would be carried out in partnership with the private sector. He said: “In 2021, the sum of N78.960 billion is being proposed for capital expenditure at the headquarters in the aviation ministry and the emphasis will focus on the implementation of the Aviation Roadmap as directed by Mr. President. “The roadmap would be implemented through Public Private Partnership (PPP), topmost of which will be the establishment of a national carrier”.  BUHARI APPROVES REORGANIZATIONS, NEW APPOINTMENTS IN AVIATION AGENCIES  In line with the administration’s commitment to the implementation of the Aviation Development Roadmap, President Mohammadu Buhari has approved some reorganizations within the Agencies under Federal Ministry of Aviation. Consequently, he has approved the appointment of Professor Bako Mansur Matazu as the new Director-General of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET). He replaces Professor Sani Abubakar Mashi.
