On November 2020, the Nigerian College of Aviation Zaria is being an integral participant of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Programme, has presented its candidacy for election of the Steering Committee's members of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Programme (TPP).


From November 30 to December 4, 2020, an electoral campaign was held in this Committee, in so doing, the Center has been actively involved by sending the election program mailing list to all candidates and participants of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Programme.


On December 7, the ICAO Global Aviation Training Office summarized the outcome of the voting. Therefore, as a result of the voting, NCAT was elected a member of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Steering Committee for three years.

About ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Steering Committee (TPSC):


TPSC provides specific recommendations on development and improvement of the ICAO TPP Programme. The TPSC prepares and submits proposals for improving the implementation of the programme's strategic planning to ensure aviation training standards more effective and convenient.


The TPSC is responsible for establishing the liaison mechanism between all categories of ICAO TPP members by integrating each participant. Consequently, Committee members are involved in the following areas:


- strategic development of ICAO TPP in the long term;

development and implementation of new program types;

- adoption of the liaison mechanism in order to integrate all members in the strategic planning;

- ensuring that the ICAO TPP reflects and meets the needs of the Programme's participants;-

 programming process and experience sharing, etc.


Membership in this Committee would enable the Center to integrate and collaborate in the international civil aviation training community, thereby participating in important strategic decision-making in a rapidly changing global training and strengthening its position at the international level.

National Carrier, Airport Concession, New Terminals Beckon

 Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika said the Federal Government would deliver a new national carrier- Nigeria Air – in 2021. Sirika said adequate preparations had been made and that N78.96 billion had been budgeted in the 2021 Appropriation Bill to implement the plan for a new national carrier, among other projects. The establishment of the national carrier, he said, would be carried out in partnership with the private sector. He said: “In 2021, the sum of N78.960 billion is being proposed for capital expenditure at the headquarters in the aviation ministry and the emphasis will focus on the implementation of the Aviation Roadmap as directed by Mr. President. “The roadmap would be implemented through Public Private Partnership (PPP), topmost of which will be the establishment of a national carrier”.  BUHARI APPROVES REORGANIZATIONS, NEW APPOINTMENTS IN AVIATION AGENCIES  In line with the administration’s commitment to the implementation of the Aviation Development Roadmap, President Mohammadu Buhari has approved some reorganizations within the Agencies under Federal Ministry of Aviation. Consequently, he has approved the appointment of Professor Bako Mansur Matazu as the new Director-General of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET). He replaces Professor Sani Abubakar Mashi. Professor Matazu holds a PhD in Geography (Applied Meteorology), with membership of the Nigerian Environmental Society, African Forestry Forum, Nigerian Meteorological Society, the Climate Change Network, Nigeria and the renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Nigeria (REEN).
