President Muhammadu Buhari to Commission Abuja Airport Cargo Terminal Soon. -Sen Hadi Sirika

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika yesterday disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari would in no distance time commission the completed cargo terminal project at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. Sirika, who made the disclosure while responding to questions raised by the House Committee on Aviation when he appeared before it for the defence of 2023 budget proposal, also disclosed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had concluded investigation into the second Abuja airport cargo terminal project abandoned by contractors after receiving 75 per cent advance payment. He stated that the Nigerian national air carrier would take-off before the end of the year with boing 737 for domestic operations while international operations would be introduced later. He added that there were more bilateral and multilateral air services agreements that had been signed for the benefit of Nigerians who travel by air.  Nigeria’s national carrier to be launched soon. The Honourable Minister of Aviation Sen. Hadi Abubakar Sirika said this when he appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation for 2023 budget defence in Abuja on Tuesday. The minister said President Muhammadu Buhari was also expected to commission one of the two cargoes at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, in a few days. Mr Sirika said the national carrier would first concentrate on domestic operations before venturing into an international operation. According to him, the national carrier of Nigeria is on its way to being launched with Boeing 737 and followed by international operations. Minister assures NASS Abuja Airport 2nd Runway delivery in 6 months

The  Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika has assured the National Assembly joint committees on aviation of the completion of the N92 billion second Abuja International Airport Runway before the exit of the current regime. Sirika gave the assurance on Thursday during an oversight visit to the airport by the joint committees of the Senate and House of Representatives led by Senator Abiodun Olujimi and Honourable Nnolim Nnaji. The Minister who conducted members of the committees of the two Chambers of the National Assembly round the on going projects at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport disclosed that the contractor for the second runway, Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company, (CCECC) had been fully mobilised.
